Peter Alliss Was a Big, Big Baby

The Peter Alliss baby weight question has been answered. During British Open week I wrote that someone had stopped by the ARMCHAIR GOLF BLOG wanting to know “how heavy was Peter Alliss as a baby?”

(Alliss, of course, is a BBC golf commentator and was quite an accomplished British golfer in his day. He played on eight Ryder Cup teams and was undefeated against Arnold Palmer in two singles matches.)

Apparently Alliss gave the baby weight answer on the air last weekend during a golf telecast. Someone with the handle “Platinum Blonde” wrote in the comments section, “He just mentioned on BBC he was 14 lbs. 10 ounces, and it was a European record for years.”

Wow.

I just comfirmed it at Mr. Alliss's Web site, which I guess I could have done a few weeks ago.

Still, I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to see the baby pictures. Can you help with that, Mr. Alliss?

Not to be disrespectful or gross, I wonder how big his mom was?

This was talked about during the commentary on the Women's British Open. Alliss said his mother was only 5 foot 1 to which he then added the comment "she didn't go cycling for a while after that" (I'm not sure that's exactly what he said but you get the idea)
