CHEZ REAVIE IS LEADING the RBC Canadian Open. Chez Reavie. OK, I think we need to do a little homework on Chez.
The 26-year-old Reavie was born in Wichita, Kansas, and attended Arizona State, where he was a three-time All-American. The first time Chez played a full round of golf he shot 106. He was 10. Reavie likes math. Hates writing.
But you want to know about the name, don't you? I did.
“William Chesney Reavie is my full name, and I’ve always been called Chez for short,” he told PGATour.com.
Last year Reavie played on the Nationwide Tour. After several good finishes, including a win at the Knoxville Open, he grabbed a spot on the PGA Tour. This year Chez has made 14 cuts in 21 events, including one top ten, a fifth-place tie at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. He’s ranked No. 362 in the world.
If Reavie wins tomorrow, we’ll learn a lot more about him in a hurry. But Anthony Kim is closing fast. (Actually, now he's tied.) Watch out for AK, Chez.

On the Canadian theme, thanks for the bio on Mr. Reavie. I was unfamiliar.
27 miles from here, just across the Canadian border, is an establishment called Chez Diane. Some say it's a house of ill repute. Some do. No relation to Mr. Reavie I'm sure.
American made...and Canada gets the credit...

Doesn't America get credit for most everything? - who cares...
Chez was born in Kansas but went to highschool in Mesa AZ. (maybe grade school too) Got a scholarship to AZ State, won the US Public Links as an amature.(I use to play the same couse his Highschool had their home matches, this is how I know where he went to HS)
I taught at the jr. high Chez went in Mesa, AZ. He wasn't my student, but his sister was, and his mom was an aide for our department, so I knew Chez a teeny bit. You have never in your life met a nicer kid. I mean NEVER! Even then, he had his eye on the PGA Tour and was working hard. I'm tickled by his victory at the Canadian Open, and I hope his success continues.
Chez's grandfather, of whom Chez never had the fortune of knowing, was born and raised in Ontario, CA; was an avid golf fan and golfer. In his honor, Chez won the Canadian Open with the genuinely supportive Reavie family of Canada yet but quite eager to meet and have walk with him throughout the Canadian Open.
Chez played golf with my son at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, AZ (a muni)growing up. I went to pick them up early one evening and found them at the restaurant eating a full meal. I asked who was paying for their meal. My son said, "we won the money off some old dudes." Great stuff...way to go Chez!
Chez - nice name
