THE 2009 NAVISTAR LPGA CLASSIC is underway at Capitol Hill/Senator Course in Pratville, Alabama. Alexis Thompson, a 14-year-old amateur appearing on a sponsor exemption, is the early leader after carding a 7-under 65.

I played this course last month. Great track. I'll be interested to see how the ladies play 17, which, if I recall, is a par 5 with lots of decisions to make. I took a triple bogey and ruined a decent round. Ended up with a 79.
