The Tale of Charlie Beljan

CHARLIE BELJAN, THE MAN WHO SHOT 64 last Friday, and who thought he was going to die, and who was taken in an ambulance to the hospital, and who slept just one hour that night (wearing his golf shoes), he won the tournament on Sunday, by two shots, his first victory on the PGA Tour, which moved him into the top 125 on the money list, which means he will not have to go back to Q-School, but will instead go to Maui in January to play in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

The End

I could feel a lot more sympathetic toward Beljan if not for the rude tweets he posted about President Obama pre-election. I understand that most pro-golfers are Republicans, and pretty far-right Red-Staters at that, but his remarks were beyond tasteless.

I didn't see those tweets.

Many people make regretable comments. The problem with Twitter is the ability to broadcast these comments worldwide with a few presses of the thumb.

I would feel a bit better about Charlie Beljan and his fascinating comeback if he had publicly apologized for his comments rather than meekly deleted his Twitter account.

It always baffles me why the hell active sports figures insert 'emselves in politics.

Dude(Beljan) unless you are an A-1 sports figure such as,Muhammad Ali,Jesse Owens or Usain Bolt able to demolish your competitors shut up about politics.

As great as MJ(Michael Jordan), Tiger,Larry Bird & Magic Johnson, they were smart enough to stay clear of airing their political views.
