The Importance of 'Fore!' on the European Tour

AS SHOWN IN THE ABOVE TWEET, the European Tour is serious about telling its players to warn spectators when shots fly off target and into galleries and such. It has obviously been a problem. Hence, the memo.

"The stakes were raised at the memo's conclusion," wrote Will Gray at Golf Central Blog, "where players were informed that they could face disciplinary action in the event that their lack of warning leads to an on-course injury."

This week the European Tour travels to South Africa for the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Fore! (Just practicing a little.)

Good on them, spectators should be warned wherever possible of stray shots, no one wants to take a golf ball to the head.
