Golf Show to Help Build Homes in New Orleans

(Incognita Nom de Plume/Flickr)

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GOLF. It has everything to do with compassion for those devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

When the Golf Industry Show participants assemble this winter in New Orleans, they’ll arrive a few days early to help Habitat of Humanity build homes in some of the most devastated areas of the Big Easy.

“This is the first time the Golf Industry Show has been back to New Orleans since Katrina and we are excited to join our partnering organizations to help the people of this great city,” Mark Woodward, CEO of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), said in a statement.

I like it. To find out more about the conference, go here.

I think this is a fantastic idea! For so many years, golf has been fighting the reputation of only being for the upper class when if fact it's a sport everyone can enjoy. This will just be another step in proving how much the PGA cares about those less devistated by events out of their control.

I agree. I applaud their good deeds (in advance).
